Bees are very important TO our environment. They take pollen from one flower to the other and are therefore natural pollinators. This job is invaluable for bees dust 80% of cultivated and wild plants. They are also indicators for pollution. Where the level is high, one seldom finds bees. On the contrary they are numerous in areas where nature is intact.

The production of Rhododendron honey follows the old tradition of bee-keeping in the Dolomites.

How honey is produced?

• In order to produce 1kg of honey bees must visit about 6,000,000 flowers. They carry the nectar to the hive and produce the honey

• The honey must rest for some time and get cleaned from wax residue

• Then it is filled up and sold

• The ripe honey is taken out from the honeycomb through centrifugal force (honey-extractor)
